Payroll Accountant
Reports to: Human Resources Manager
Work Schedule:Ìý 4-day work schedule.Ìý Monday – Thursday (7:30 – 5:30)
Job summary:
The payroll accountant ensures employees are paid accurately and on time while keeping all payroll records organized. Calculates wages, deductions, taxes, and benefits, and verifies compliance with federal and state regulations. This position also prepares payroll reports, reconciles accounts, and addresses payroll-related questions from faculty/staff.Ìý
Minimum Qualifications:
- Christian who is an active member in local church.
- Supports Statement of Christian Affirmation (/about/mission/)
- Bachelor’s degree in a business-related field from an accredited college or university
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- 2 to 3 years related payroll experience
Position Responsibilities:Ìý
- Demonstrates the Imago Dei of Christ (Gen 1:26) in all aspects of one’s professional role, personal interactions and community relations.
- Educate new employeesÌýwith Time Entry/Payroll procedures.
- Verify time reported on Timecards and for student workers enter into Excel Spreadsheet.
- Post Bi-Weekly, Monthly and Summer Payroll. ÌýRun Payroll Reports.ÌýPost and maintain information from reports to Excel Spreadsheets.
- Prepare 941 and State Withholding and Overtime Report monthlyÌýfor accounting to pay.
- File Quarterly 941 and SUI report with Federal Gov’t.
- Help with Preparation of W2’s
- Run Accrual Process Monthly for Vacation/Sick Leave
- Prepare retirement contributions for online remittances.
- Reconcile Health, Dental and Vision Insurance Statements Monthly
- Prepare New Employee Packets
- Process New Employee Information for Part-time and work-Study Students and enter into Excel Spreadsheets Ìýand Ellucian. Ìý(Taxes, deductions, compensation, etc).
- Processes E-Verify for each new employee.
- Assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Manager of Human Resources or the Vice President for Business Affairs.
